WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE SCRIPTURES:  We believe that the Bible as originally written was verbally and plenary inspired, is the product of spirit-controlled men and therefore, is truth without any mixture of error. We believe the Bible to be the center of true Christian unity and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions shall be tried.(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

THE TRUE GOD:  We believe that there is only one living and true God, infinite in every excellence; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three personal distinctions – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – yet one in substance and equal in every divine perfection (Exodus 20:2-3; I Corinthians 8:6; I John 5:7).

We believe in the absolute Deity of the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ; that He was divine as no other man can be, being very God of very God, existing from all eternity coequal with the Father and the Spirit; that He never ceased to be God for one instant and that His humiliation did not consist in laying aside His deity; that as man He was miraculously begotten of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary (John 1:1-2; I John 5:20; Matthew 1:20; Luke 1:26-38).

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with the Father and son and of the same substance and nature; that He convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment, bears witness to the truth, is the Agent of the New Birth and that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses to, sanctifies, and helps the believer, indwelling every true Child of God (II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17; Romans 8:14-27).

OUR PASTOR

In February 2013, the Lord directed Brent Weaver to accept the call to be Senior Pastor at Kennard Baptist Church after serving as a Senior Pastor since 1999 in Independent Baptist churches is Atlanta, Ga., Oakdale, La., and Sylvester, Ga.

Bro. Brent was raised in Oblong, Illinois, and was saved by the grace of God on Wednesday, March 20th at New Hebron Baptist Church in Robinson, Illinois. He surrendered to the call to preach on Sunday, November 23rd, 1986 at Bethel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Pastor Brent and his wife Angie, who was born and raised in Ingalls, Indiana, were married in February of 1985. God has blessed their marriage and their home with two children — Elizabeth, and Joseph. They have also been blessed with three granddaughters - Lilliana, Kaylen, and Jaley.

Brent and Angie are excited to serve the wonderful people at Kennard Baptist Church and the surrounding communities.

OUR CHURCH

The congregation of Kennard Baptist Church is made up of folks from many surrounding towns such as, Shirley, Greensboro, Wilkinson, Knightstown, Carthage, Cadiz, Middletown, New Castle, Markleville, Greenfield, Willow Branch, Springport, Sulphur Springs, Mt. Summit, Dunreith, Spiceland, and Kennard, Indiana.

We are a friendly, family-oriented body of Believers, who welcome one and all to visit the services.

ATONEMENT FOR SIN:  We believe that the salvation for sinners is divinely initiated and wholly of grace through the mediatorial offices of the Son of God, Who, by the appointment of the Father, freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin, honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that His atonement consisted not in setting us an example by His death as a martyr, but was a voluntary substitution of Himself in the sinner's place, the just dying for the unjust; Christ, the Lord, bearing our sin in His own body on the tree. (Matthew 18:11; John 3:16; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24-25; 1 Corinthians 15:3; 1 Corinthians 5:21)

RESURRECTION:  We believe in the literal, bodily resurrection of Christ, in His ascension into Heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest. (Hebrews 2:17)

ETERNAL SECURITY:  We believe that all who are truly born again are kept secure by God the Father for Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)

RETURN OF CHRIST:  We believe in the bodily, personal, pre-millennial return of Jesus Christ; that He will come before the seven-year tribulation period to catch away His church, coming only into the air; and that He will come with His church at the close of the tribulation to judge the living nations and to set up His kingdom on earth (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 25;31-46; Revelation 19:11-21).

THE RESURRECTION:  We believe in the resurrection of the bodies of the dead; that believers who sleep in Jesus will be raised at the coming of Christ for His Church and caught up with the transformed living saints to meet the Lord in the air, and that the wicked dead will be raised at the close of the millennial kingdom and stand in their bodies at the Great White Throne of judgment to receive their final doom (John 5:21-30; I Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 7:9-17; 20:11-15).
